Nagpur University VC resigned amid controversy
The Governor of the State of Maharashtra, and Chancellor of the universities in the State, to Sankaranarayanan Sapkal Vilas, accepted the resignation of Vice Chancellor Rashtra Sant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University as Vice Chancellor with immediate effect on Sunday night.
The Governor sent a Division Commissioner of Nagpur Anoop Kumar, an additional charge as Vice Chancellor of the University of Nagpur until further notice. Sapkal served VC with December 22, 2010 year.
The University was marred by controversy for some time. More than 250 colleges were blacklisted The Varsity before the start of the school year 2013-14, for alleged fraud in the appointment of qualified teachers and exams.
Among other issues raised, one was awarded degrees to students of colleges, 117, where the practical examination and Viva Presidents and Secretaries of the departments of the College, rather than teaching staff.
The dispute peaked nationally in November, 2013, forcing President p. Mukherjee to cancel its program to participate in the ceremony of the University of Nagpur. Ceremony for the convening of the postponed after that.
