University College of Engineering was opened October 29, 1996, the then Minister of Kerala for education and work, Shri.P. J.. Joseph in Thodupuzha. The college started functioning with three departments - computer science, electronics and communication and technology of polymers. In May 2002, when the college was moved to its own campus in Muttom, with the addition of more than two departments - information technology and electrical engineering and electronics. Later in 2007, the course m. Electronics technology is used to begin offering on campus.
University College of Engineering (UCE), located near Thodupuzha, this Institute of Engineering and Technology, execute and manage Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala. Update Compatibility Evaluator provides degree courses Bachelor and Master. Courses are held at the college are approved by All India Technical Education, New Delhi. Syndicate of the Mahatma Gandhi University serves as the Board of Governors of the Institute. The Institute started its activities in 1996 in Thodupuzha and was later moved to its campus in Muttom in May 2002.
The campus is located in 25 acres of land near Muttom, 7 km from Thodupuzha, aside from the state highway No 33. Nearby attractions are the Malankara dam and adjacent reservoir, which is built on the water with a lid, which gave the power house.
