College of the Sacred Heart (also known as Thevara College) to the arts and sciences college in Thevara, Kerala, India run by the Carmelites to Mary Immaculate (CMI), indigenous Syrian Catholic religious congregation founded in 1831.
Sacred Heart College, Thevara is a constituent first class college Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and accredited with five star status, the NAAC and reaccredited with A grade in 2013. It was created in 1944, Sacred Heart Monastery, Thevara, Cochin, a unit of the CMI Congregation (Carmelites of Mary immaculate). Today, the college has 14 undergraduate and 14 postgraduate degrees. It has students courses in English, economics, sociology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, commerce, computer software and graphic design and refresher courses in English, economics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, applied chemistry, botany, zoology , aquaculture and fish processing, commerce, multimedia, graphic design, film and television and MCJ. Department of Economics, zoology, botany, chemistry, physics and the House is recognized as research centers for PhD under Mahatma Gandhi University. Today, the college has 91 teachers and 37 members on the non teaching staff. In total force college students are more than 2000.
