According to the report HRD Minister Ms Smriti Irani said that "the total number of registered Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the premier National Institutes of Technology (nights) has seen an increase."
During his recent visit to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, the Minister said that the number of places doctoral nights soared to more than 6.130 in 2014 to 5.240 in December last year.
Moreover, during the same period the total number of students who accessed nights also rose to 84.441 from about 75.719.
Focus is attributed to the fact that no place is vacant Faculty nights. The total pool Faculty institutes was 4.659 in December 2014.
Nights are affected by the shortage of faculty and is a known fact. The crisis of middle Faculty nights reached 25%. Stricter rules on the promotion, as well as the lack of incentives to dissuade many of applying for teaching positions in the evenings. And for similar reasons existing faculty to change jobs. Moreover, a small section of the PhD students join these institutes nights as faculty. Many choose to work on a research-oriented corporate house or continue postdoctoral studies abroad.
Apparently, the central government of India is planning to invite 800 academic experts from around the world to teach in schools in the country. The new measure will be implemented next year.
According to the HRD Ministry officials, the government strives to achieve literacy rate of 80 per cent of the country in 2017. According to the 2011 census, the literacy rate in the country was 72.98 per cent.
