The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) today said it has, together with other institutions launched massive open online courses in agriculture (Ag Mooca). The members comprising the consortium are Commonwealth Learning (COL), Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta (IIMC) and the University of Agriculture Sciences Raichur (UASR) IITK said in a press release.
The cluster supports NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning), a project of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Also, NPTEL is among the largest publishers in the world of open educational resources, he said. The Consortium will Mooca primarily aimed at professionals in agriculture, including students in state agricultural universities and institutions, teachers and specialists who serve or any interested students and applicants. Supposedly, the first year of Ag Mooca Consortium will be launched on March 17, 2015.
According IITK "massive open online courses (Mooca) are enabling thousands of learners who aspire to take a required course in one offering. The scale is a big advantage in Mooca and shows obvious signs of acceptance. They institutions can be developed quickly progressed to experience in their own field. "
